Like every good farse, the author has to take a plausible situation and make it laughable, by turning down a lunatic alley mid-plot.
McCain is apparently attempting to give Shakespeare a run for his money. Wait until your opponent has chosen a completely reasonable running mate, and then with a flourish, take the list of most junior republican governors, senators, and congressmen, limit the list to those with the least experience and absolutely no foreign policy knowledge what-so-ever and find yourself left with... hey... Sarah Palin...
OK, let's pick her... Only 2 years as Governor of the country's youngest state, after serving 2 terms as Mayor, and 2 terms on the city council of the ever so famous city of... Wasilla, Alaska... WOW!!!
Big fish in that little 8400 person pond... cool, let's make her a Governor!!!
They even have the guts to use the word "tenure" in her Bio in conjunction with that whopping political career.
You can't tell me that this makes ANY sense... Could you imagine Palin becoming the President when McCain becomes too unstable to remain in office?
The GOP just keeps getting scarier and scarier. Bush was bad enough but if the Republican Party can't be a little more subtle about the puppets they are putting on their ballot, enough of the populous is going to get wise and start pondering who is really running the show.
Speaking of whish, where IS Karl Rove these days??? Strangely invisible if you ask me... Probably was finally promoted to be Grand Wizard of whatever brotherhood controls the GOP, and thus gained their dearest and most cherished weapon... A charm of Stealth and Invisibility...
Watch out as you enter the lowest level of the Dungeon, Adventurer... here lives the Great Black Wizard Rove... capable of untold deception and doom...

Rove was actually all over the TV (including CNN...that was a surprise) this weekend! He made some great observations about what was occurring in Congress at present and how this election will affect what Congress does.
As for how tiny Alaska is and why Palin's Mayoral and Governorship is considered great experience for a national stage please refer to AngryRepublicans blog....he has a factual thread there in rebuttal.
Comical? That would imply a happy ending. Depending on someone's views it might be more befitting of great tradgedy. I can see McCain's astounding ability to cave into party pressure as his heroic flaw.
I was so depressed and un-sure about giving my vote to McCain UNTIL he picked Gov Palin. Now I'll happily vote Mcain/ Palin 08!
Wow, I thought FEAR tactics worked really for the Republicans the last 2 elections. Is 3 times a charm?
